Hiro, et. al,

Thanks for the info. I have been researching the feasibility and
availability of gloves, alcohol, etc. These gloves will not be available
from Grainger until September. It is a similar situation for most PPE items
found at brick and mortar stores and on Internet sites. . When items are
available, they are often the subject of huge price gouging. And many PPE
items are being prioritized for medical personnel.

Availability is not a terrific problem for one or two events, but could
become problematic for regular outreach with at least 4 or 5 events, a
dozen members, and 1000 attendees each month.
I will send out a new version of our proposal this afternoon for comments.
I look forward to that time when we will be able to re-establish the
outreach program, with modified and reasonable guidelines from our public
health agencies.

 I think some people feel this is tedious but I would like to have good
rules to protect our members.

surfaces. This is common Rubbing Alcohol.  Application should be via
disposable Kleenex tissue or cotton. This would be more reasonable than

Re: gloves, the CDC recommends the use of gloves when cleaning or caring
for someone who is sick to protect yourself. This might apply to our
members protecting themselves while cleaning the EP and focuser?
Requirements for gloves is to be determined.

For KQ Ranch we need a proof of concept and roadmap for use at public
venues. We cannot assume that the public venues will ever be "Pre-COVID
business as usual". When they do open up under the State's guidelines, I
hope we will have a protocol in place that complies with the new standards.

I agree with Mike. Alcohol concentration needs to be higher.



In biological labs to eliminate contamination in cell culture, we use
70% Ethanol.



As a telescope operator, I will do the following to keep it clean and
protect yourself.

Latex gloves will help protect your skin also.



1.Ware disposal Latex Glove

2.Keep 70% Ethanol in spray bottle

3.Sanitize glove wared hand by spraying 70% ethanol and rubb until it dry

4.Splay alcohol wipes and clean focus knob and eyepieces

5.You can directly spray ethanol to the area you want to clean and wipe

*Be careful NOT to splay alcohol directly to mechanical components like
gears to prevent damage.



Step 1-3 is a standard procedure for preparing cells in clean condition
and we know it works.

I, personally, believe this meets the requirements under the current
state guidelines. I also believe that we will be able to proceed with this
kind of policy and practice at a few of the public parks sometime in July.



I am recommending this plan to the BoD and asking for Board review
before implementation at KQ Ranch.
