Board Members,
At my request, Dennis Ammann has prepared a plan that might be used to host
a Star Party at KQ Ranch on June 27. His contact has submitted a request to
their corporate office to proceed as described here:
Submitted by Dennis Ammann:
"- Upon set up, viewing, and pack-out, SDAA astronomers will wear masks
inside the tennis/basketball court.
- At each scope, there will be red glow tape or red glow stick on the
ground every 6 feet, to establish a line for the observers.
- Eye pieces and focus knobs will be wiped down after each person views a
celestial object with a solution of 75% water and 25% alcohol.
- If a group requests a constellation talk or other presentation, the group
will move to the basketball court side so that everyone can be separated by
6 feet.
Hopefully the above four precautions will satisfy the California
requirements and be approved by the SDAA Board of Directors to maintain 6
feet social distance, provide clean equipment, and the utilization of
masks."
I, personally, believe this meets the requirements under the current state
guidelines. I also believe that we will be able to proceed with this kind
of policy and practice at a few of the public parks sometime in July.
I am recommending this plan to the BoD and asking for Board review before
implementation at KQ Ranch.
