That was the BEST story ever.

Just to keep things real, I give you this: The *only* time I was asked to
hand over my weapon, and how STUPID it is to allow a 'suspect' to handle
their weapon, the deputy would not let me unload it, and then could not
figure out how to remove the magazine. I had to take it back, remove the
mag, and slide the rack back. He acted as if he had never seen such magic
before.
I asked what he carried, and he actually pulled out his revolver to look.
Which was pointed AT me while he looked - at a revolver! Yes, I reached out
and calmly pushed it away. It would be not have done to startle this man.
To add insult to injury, when the garbage truck's supervisor showed up (it
was a multi car accident where the garbage truck clipped a car and that car
spun out and hit me), it was my ex husband.
I have never seen a white man (the deputy, not my ex) turn a whiter shade
of pale. My ex could intimidate everyone but me, but that's another story.
On the bright side, when my ex bellowed at him to put that f'ing thing
away, the deputy complied! I bet if he had seen me first my ex would not
have been so quick to yell at the deputy to put his gun away.
I don't know who I felt sorrier for, the truck driver who was getting
dressed down in front of everyone, the deputy who was getting much the same
treatment from the Sheriff, the poor lady whose Samurai (remember those
POS?) that was crinkled like a french fry, or the people stuck in traffic
behind all of this.
I am telling you that white lady privilege is a thing so long as everyone
stays calm, although I am not sure that scenario would play out the same
way in today's world.

I was talking on my phone while driving, LEO pulls me over for that
(during the short period where that was illegal in Greenville). He walk up
to the car and (imagine a flamboyantly gay cop) asks if I knew why he was
pulling me over? I said same thing as always "I am a CWP holder and I am
carrying a weapon". He says "oh?" and asked for my weapon, at this point I
have no idea if his mannerisms are a joke or just over the top sarcasm. I
ask to unload it before handing it over. He says "ok, just don't point it
toward me". I unload my Glock 26 and hand it over. He walks off with it. He
come back and tells my about the new cell phone law, and then in the most
animated way possible, explains that my weapon is too dusty and needs to be
cleaned. He explains break down of the glock and how a q-tip can get in to
the crevasses and some oil here and here is needed. He then blows on the
gun and a small cloud of pocket lint goes into the air before handing it
back to me. He gives me a warning about the cell phone law and says "have a
nice day". Thinking about that interaction still makes me smile to this
day.
