Howdy all;

I would like to say that I am glad to see that the poll was as strongly
weighted as it was toward having the club business first and then the main
speaker and I think that all the reasons are worthy. I also think that we
need to be flexible enough to be able to bend with a request from a
particular speaker. I was saddened to see that so many folks had left, but
that is the way of it.

I also think that Thad's idea of controlling the show and tell by having
folks "sign up" with him will get some better handle on the amount of show
and tell. I know that it is hit or miss sometimes, but I think that this
method can help. The amount of business is controlled to below 30 minutes
by the club rules and we rarely approach that number. I hope that stays the
truth for years to come.

Seeing as how we have over 4000 dollars in savings, I just can't see any
reason that the club would consider raising the dues anytime soon. Other
than a few expenses: room, portapotty, food at GCSP, Holiday party and a
few others, we just don't have a lot of expenses. That seems OK to me.

I did like the idea of a telescope clinic for Christmas telescopes. I think
that a little "advertising" would garner us lots of folks who would like
some help getting started with their telescope. I also think that having
that be in coordination with a meeting night is a good idea. Maybe just a
long break once it is dark to help newbies setup and use their scope. We
might do our first one in coordination with the Fall Public Star Party????
Just a thought.

So, Paul, maybe your next poll could be....Are you willing to show up at a
club meeting that will be a telescope clinic for potential new members and
help them set up and use their new telescope? I'll bet that we will have
lots of members willing to help with a task like that.

Clear Skies to us all;
Steve Coe
