My 3.92 Hungarian Florints worth:

1) Good idea, if it can be made to happen, do it.

2) not a real problem with this either, but since AJ asked, here was the
reasoning: Since the NL was a benefit of membership I figured that members
should have the first access to the information. That being Said, I believe
Peter 7 I were trying to keep it more current that towards the end of my
tenure. It was pointed out that coming events would be past events in a lot of
cases, so again, no problem one way or the other on this.

3) Be careful how you tread on this one. I can pretty well assure you there
will be a small but vocal contingent against this. I tend to agree and here are
some of points to consider:

back when I took care of getting the issues printed & mailed, the cost to do
so was about $1.00 per copy, a bit over if I recall depending on what the going
postage rate was. This amounts to 412.00 ish buck a year which was close to the
$14.00 per annum cost of a NL only membership. Essentially for a regular member
half of the cost was for the NL. This WAS drastically reduced when we went
electronic, but that was done as the cost of printing had double as the shop I
was using went out of business and anywhere else was charging twice as much. So
the move to electronic distribution was to keep from depleting the treasury
with one issue. The reduction in printed copies from over 100 (including comps)
was reduced to about 30-40 and the overall cost did decrease quite a bit.

That being said, while true that most folks who choose astronomy as a hobby
have access to email & the Internet, there are those who still prefer not to
deal with those things on a regular basis, or as more casual members who don;t
attend many club functions, but still want to stay informed, As Steve Dodder
mentioned may not have access to the fastest of Internet services, and yes
there may those who just don't have access at all. Currently according to my
records, eliminating Cop memberships (which we did several years ago, there are
7 hard copy issues to be printed, Not a big expense< especially considering
Peter's generosity in printing them for us.

Gene also makes a valid point to have extra copies available for outreach.

So if you haven't figured by now, My vote,. if I had one would be to keep the
hard copies available.

Again just my 3.92 Hungarian Florints worth.
