Jenn,

Just curious... what was the misunderstanding? I don't see that Howard has
booked an August speaker yet.

My vote is to pursue Carolyn Porco for August or whwnever she can speak (if
she's willing, that is). I think this would make a great combo-meeting
speaker.

Hi all,
August was to be a combined meeting with EVAC but it doesn't look like
that's going to happen due to some misunderstanding with their VP. The
original plan was to combine funds and look to flying in a big name to make
a talk at the Science Center or maybe another mutually agreed upon midpoint
venue. But that's clearly not going to happen.

My question is now, do we still want to consider the idea of flying someone
in? I have a pretty big short list of ideas and haven't pursued the
invitation until I got an answer regarding use of the Science Center. We
now don't really need a bigger venue since it won't be a combined meeting,
although we may want to consider a bigger place at GCU if we get any one the
speakers I have in mind. Also, it obviously won't need to be the August
meeting (despite me telling every person I've asked to speak that they can't
in August due to the combined meeting).

And if we do look to flying someone in, what kind of budget would I be
looking at?

Let me know your thoughts so I know if I should start the process of begging
some folks to make their way to the light dome this year to avail us of some
wondrous astronomical information previously unknown to us earthlings.
