I have suspended my efforts at digital and back to being analog again. I
simply do not understand PhotoShop and find it non-intuitive to the max.
But I am in the process of closing my law practice and moving and once
moved I will
a) take a course on digital at my local Community College (about four
miles from the new abode)
b) buy a decent digital camera of some sort
c) set up my darkroom again and go back to cranking out schwarz-weisse,
Ilfochrome, and RA4 stuff at my own speed
Understand, please, that I own two cars, a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine and a 1984
Audi 4000S, both straight drive. I own a single rifle, a 1909 Argentine
Mauser rechambered to .30 - '06. I do not own a TIVO though I do have two
DVD players and three or four VCR's. I fly fish and I occasionally pull
out my 1967 Klepper Aerius II Kayak and go peacefully paddling about placid
ponds. I am an old-technology sort of guy: I occasionally mix up my own
sausage from scrap meat and have never owned a Sony Walkman of any sort.
I am 56. My use-by date is probably within the next three decades and
might well be much sooner given my bent to excess (though, to be honest, I
follow the family tradition in this bent to excess and most of them crawled
well into their 80's before marking out to join the Choir Invisible -- my
mother enjoyed her carton of cigs and box of wine until the week before she
died at 82, and yes she died quickly and I suspect spent her first ten
minutes in the hereafter picking fights with my father, grandmother, and
one of my ex-wives who predeceased her several months earlier). So I will
be gone by the time analog photography becomes a real rarity and I shall
continue to inhabit a shrinking niche market while continuing to try to
understand digital.
