Subject: [rollei_list] OT: Ilford Special Sheet Film Sizes?

Many of you know Joe O'Neil from various
Large-Format fora. He just posted a note to the
Royal Astronomical Society of Canada List that
Ilford is taking special orders for sheet films
in uncustomary sizes. This might be restricted
to Ilford in Canada. I lack the time at the
moment to check this out furtehr, but Joe might
have some further information: his e-mail is <joneil@xxxxxxxx>

Fora or forae? Its been more than fifty years since I had any latin.
Ilford has a product availability list in PDF form at:
http://www.ilfordphoto.com/Webfiles/200711714387916.pdf
This lists a number of very large sizes available as "nonstock" items, presumably this means special order. I suspect an e-mail to Ilford would bring details. BTW, Ilford has a place for suggesting new products, since there seems to be no replacement for Kodak High-Speed Infrared perhaps Ilford would be willing to make a similar film. There _are_ some other IR films but they seem mostly to be extended red rather than true IR. For some reason I have the idea that IR film is especially perishable which would definitely affect its viability as a commercial product were there is not an established market. However, I suggest those who are interested write Ilford. I have no idea how large a market they need to consider making something but, obviously, the more requests they get the better.
