Hi G,
I agree - I'm not looking for a megabuck all-electronic all-motorized
monster.
But I would like to have a solid mechanical workhorse that allows large
enlargments, is flexible, stable and easy to maintain.
I can get a Durst 138S for quite a bit less than the 1200, but then there's
the question of space...
Actually, an L138 or 139 doesn't take up (much) more space than a desktop
enlarger. I switched from a Agfa Varioskop 60 on top of an old desk to the
standalone G139 and got more space in the lab. The G139 (that's a L138
with the lower part of a 8x10" L184) takes less than 1m^2 (about 90cm wide
and 80cm deep). It fits into a room of 2.12m height, but needs about 2.50
when fully up (with the CLS1000 color head).
I can very much recommend it, the maximum enlargment size on the ground
board (full down of course) is about 100x80cm. The only enlarger I would
swap for the G139 is a DeVere 507 floor standing model...
