FWIW, the plastic lens caps will not fit the Rolleiflex Automat because it won't clear the knobs. I have two or three because for a while they were common and cheap. You can push it onto an Automat or cut the sides to clear the knobs. Its meant to fit over the bayonet and is too large to fit the Old Standard. I have seen and I think have somewhere a double metal lens cap without any writing on it. Not sure what its from but it won't fit any Rollei I have.

There is no doubt the clip-on twin rigid metal cap with "F&H" and Carl Zeiss Jena logo was the original lens cap for the pre-war Rolleiflex Automat models I and II (manufactured from August 1937 to March 1939), without bayonet for the viewing lens. The Rolleiflex Automat III with bayonet for the viewing lens (manufactured from March 1939 to September 1949) received the new twin rigid metal lens cap with central latch used for the Rolleiflex up to October 1949 and for the Rolleicord up to about March 1957 (Rolleicord V); it was plastic made for the Rolleicord Va and Vb.

This another nice sample -with details- for the Automat I and II lens cap showing the F&H and CZJ logos:

Thank you for the info Carlos.
In fact the book from John Phillips does not refer any of these
    cap variations.

        Hi,
I am new in posting in this list.
You can find the description of all Rolleiflex caps in John
        Phillips book (the Classic Rollei).
The one you describe yes it is only for the Rolleiflex Old
        Standard (1932-38).
The only other cap that has engraved the Carl Zeiss Jena logo
is the one for the original Rolleiflex 4x4 (1931-1938).
I have both cameras working, but lack both caps!

        Thank you, Carlos!  I too have several rigid lens caps;
however, none that mention Carl Zeiss and/or Jena as well as
F&H.  Mine all say "Rollei".  In prior, more frivolous
years, I would be purchasing the camera solely for the cap! Thankfully, I am now at the very beginnings of maturity. Peter

Interesting image Peter, they are prewar metal lens caps
for Rollei TLR cameras, they became a rare item today.

logo for the viewing lens and Carl Zeiss Jena logo for

The knowm Rollei TLR foldable lens cap was made from
about 1949 for Rolleiflex cameras, Rolleicord cameras
used a rigid metal lens cap up to about the Rolleicord
Va model, when they received a plastic lens cap. My
Rolleicord IV from 1954 has an original rigid metal lens
cap with the word ROLLEI on the viewing lens and there
are no words or logo for the taking lens, this lens cap
model was also used for Rolleiflex cameras from about
            1939 to 1949:

I came across this fleabay listing and note that
I've never seen a F&H / Carl Zeiss Jena lenscap. This is a new one for me.
