Unless I'm wrong about this - and if I am please let me know - Silver
oxides are better than alkaline, and discharge more like the mercury
- but at the same 1.55 volts as the alkaline. Wouldn't this be the
way to go for Dennis?

Krikor should know better than recommend this. Unless you are shooting color negative and really don't care about anything but being in the ballpark, this won't work because of the difference in discharge characteristics betwen mercury and alkaline cells. The meter can easily be off a stop and a half or more over the life of the cell... hopefully he told you...

Hard to complain about that. Shutter works fine and the meter is working
and has been adjusted for alkaline.--- Rollei List
