I use a old Reis model 'C' tripod with my Rolleiflex 3.5F and it's crown
diameter is 4 inches. I have a small ball head with the QR atop it and it
works great. I don't mind the crown showing a bit - somewhere to place a
circular bubble level.

If like me you got a Reis made in Seattle tripod made of wood a few years
ago you got a huge top platform
4.5 inches.
Most ball heads except a big one I don't see made any more were just to
small.
They'd look like pinheads and the crown of the tripod would get in the way.
And that big ball must weight a ton. I thought it was the B1 Arca but its
not looking the same to me.
But would be ok on this quite substantial heavy wood tripod.
Which I have in a storage cube in Portland Oregon.
Right now I'm using a light weight carbon Gitzo.
