Sometimes in the excitement of travel one can forget to put the film
between the rollers so it does not sense the film (winds through) or the
other is when you wind on to the first frame you then go back until the
lever lines up instead of winding backwards until the lever stops (first
frame ends up either with a locked shutter button, or not advancing
after exposure).

Dave,
’Stopped working’. Do you mean the film is running through without stopping at frame 1? Have you used a different type of film? In that case change back to your usual film and hopefully the problem is tackled. The film feeler mechanism does not always work reliable with some makes of film. (Modern) films may be too thin at starting point (paper+film+adhesive strip).
I hope this helps.
Ferdi.

Help! I’m only one roll of film into a short trip to Florence, Italy and the automatic film transport mechanism on my 2.8F has suddenly stopped working. We won’t be in Florence long enough to do anything about it while here, unfortunately. I know this is a long-shot, but does anyone happen to know of a good Rollei repair technician in Milan?
