In fact there was quite of bit of local coverage of
the case in the Roanoke paper which did a good job in
recounting both the Commonwealth's position as well as
Bob's. People on this forum deservedly respect Bob for
his fine contributions to this forum and the world of
photography, however, I doubt, from posts like these,
that they followed the case closely from the news
articles which appeared in the press over the case.
Railroaded, no way, too tough a sentence, maybe. Go
back and read the archives and judge for yourself. Bob
gave a full account of the events at the trial, many
of which were a problem for his defense. The sentence
was long, no doubt, but within the statutory
guidelines for the crimes he was convicted of. The
case was a very tough ordeal for the local community
and the prosecutor was in tears at the end. Bear in
mind the decedent died of a schedule I drug which
carries in most states a sentence of, at least 15
years for distribution, and then read the press
articles over the origins of that drug in this case
