This will get to be like the correct German for self-timer:-) I think of a light trap as something that is not continuous: allowing passage for something, like the light trap for the dark slide of a sheet film holder or a labrynth entrance for a darkroom. This thing is a continuous connection between the moving lens board and fixed inner part of the camera. The original set up, a felt gland around between a sliding and fixed tube, is more of a light trap, at least to me.Richard Knoppow:

light-proof, coupling between two parts that move in
relation to each other. To me, that fits the definition of a
bellows. I don't know what else to call it.
Agreed. It is really more of a light trap than a bellows.
