Features not available on lower priced models may be found on higher priced versions. A 4' flute on the 525 Swell would require another stop tab with related tone source, wiring, etc. You can always play the 8' up an octave if you want a solo 4' on the Swell, and I think there's a 4' flute on the Great anyhow. Same sort of thing applies to the 16' reed on the 840 Great. Ditto pedal reeds borrowed from other divisions...this is "a time-honored custom" when space and/or $ are considerations, as they usually are. If it's any comfort to you, I believe both the 525 and 840 are discontinued models that have been replaced with improved versions that may offer what you're looking for.
