Ans to questions: $
Whether pipe or electronic, money is often the ruling engine. There are
cost/benefit trade-off's. Features not available on lower priced models may
be found on higher priced versions. A 4' flute on the 525 Swell would
require another stop tab with related tone source, wiring, etc. You can
always play the 8' up an octave if you want a solo 4' on the Swell, and I
think there's a 4' flute on the Great anyhow. Same sort of thing applies to
the 16' reed on the 840 Great. Ditto pedal reeds borrowed from other
divisions...this is "a time-honored custom" when space and/or $ are
considerations, as they usually are.

If it's any comfort to you, I believe both the 525 and 840 are discontinued
models that have been replaced with improved versions that may offer what
you're looking for.
