I had a wedding scheduled for this weekend. It had been on my calendar
several months. Both the bride and groom live out of town. I met with t=
he
couple about 6 weeks ago and they selected their music. The bride told =
me
she had reservations about the cost of an organist, but, since she had he=
ard
the music she was overjoyed I was playing and my music was going to "make
the wedding."=0D
=0D
I had not heard from the couple since I met with them, so I called the
pastor of the church Friday afternoon to see what time the rehearsal was.=
  I
always attend the rehearsals. The pastor informed me the couple was not
using me as their organist because they just could not afford it. They w=
ere
playing CD's instead! The pastor could not believe they had not called =
me
to tell me about the situation. I told him I met with the couple severa=
l
weeks ago and they had all their music planned. He reassured me I WAS NO=
T
PLAYING.=0D
=0D
So, I make other plans and get home about 9:30 on Friday night. I have =
a
call on our answering service from the groom. They are at the rehearsal
WAITING on ME! They can't believe I just had not come to the rehearsal.=
=20
They thought it was understood I was coming! Next on the answering serv=
ice
was the PASTOR saying "there must be a misunderstanding somewhere. Plea=
se
call!"=0D
I call the phone number and the GROOM answers! I ask to speak to the
pastor. He turns me over to the bride!! I asked the bride if she knows
what happened. She does not! The pastor led them to believe I just did
not show up!!=0D
Is this a nightmare or what??=0D
=0D
Thoughts on this?? Do I not charge the couple "full price" for the wedd=
ing
since I missed the rehearsal (because of the pastor)? I feel I should
really do this. The bride and groom were horrified!=0D
They are afraid I am not going to show up for the wedding on Saturday!=0D
