for great thrust vectoring use a moonburner. sheesh. seen more ultimate altitude small fin low margin machines go awry that way.

why not a fan of spin? all the sounding rockets did that. the spin inducing pad was just as much a part of the system as the rest of the vehicle. yeah you lose some in drag but gain a lot in reliability and repeatability. and they launched slightly off 90 degrees.

but flight angle may not matter much. look at the curve of the derivative of the tangent, that's the rate you lose altitude from a few degrees off 90o, to 80o, 75 degrees... 15 degrees off sounds like a lot but really it's just a few percent off from a perfect 90o launch.
