Yes, we have plenty of dust in Barstow...
Although with the prevailing winds 29 Palms is more likely...

is so darn dusty already and I would probably just end up in Barstow.

He is a member of a club in Arizona. He can fly high power there, so no need

He specifically said he wants to fly at Lucerne, his "all-time favorite launch
site" -- which he started doing 45 years ago.
Maybe someone in his group has a health concern and wants to avoid crowds.
Maybe he's in a position to "create a memory" and doesn't want some of the
situations encountered at an organized launch, like lines.
Maybe that weekend is his only available window to do this.
Guess I should have worked harder to get licensed.

What an interesting post. Particularly because of Terry’s job. I wonder why
he doesn’t want to just go to the August ROC launch, after all, the weather is
probably not going to be any different. Or, FAR; that launch is just the next
weekend.
Curious if anyone knows Terry. I’m interested in helping and wouldn’t ask for
any compensation, but I’m not sure about the need for a special launch.
What do others think about this? Has anyone already contacted him?
