Safe search is the ability to filter results to hide explicit or adult content.
On the main Google site, you can set the number of results as high as 100
results per page, which can be very convenient.
I sure like the idea of the SSL search provided by the page that you pointed
out.

Hmm...I've never messed with either one of those, but isn't the SSL the
safe search? And I guess I never realized there was a way to set the
number of results...however many it displays works for me lol.
