1991 is when I just got started into MS DOS.
I wish I had started with Linux then, but there probably was no TTS back
then.
I probably could have done it with a large monitor and magnification, but I
was already using an Artic ISA card with DOS. Windows was not really
working well or at all with Windows 3.1 at that time, so I focused on DOS.
The Artic215 card sounded a lot like eSpeak actually, but it didn't annoy me
as much as eSpeak does.
But I'm not complaining, if eSpeak was all we had for TTS, I'd be glad for
it.

Also, If I'm remembering my Computer history correctly, the first
public version of Linux was around 1991(though I honestly have no clue
when Linux got paired with GNU or when it became common to refer to
the whole OS as Linux instead of acknowledging that Linux is jusst the
Kernel and would be kind of useless without GNU or another userspace
suite) and the first commercial versions of Unix came out in
1969(Hence why the the Unix Time Epoch is is midnight the morning of
January 1, 1970 if I'm not mistaken).
Pretty sure just about everything with a negative Unix Timestamp was
running something custom built along side the hardware.
Hadn't known about the woven rom of the Apollo missions, though I've
heard the statement about flip phones having more computing power than
the Apollo missions.
