I only have access to Fedora 12 (which is Ok) and to CentOS 5.4 (which is not).

On Fedora 12:
$ pcretest -C
PCRE version 7.8 2008-09-05
Compiled with
  UTF-8 support
  Unicode properties support
^^^^^^^^^^^

On CentOS:
$ pcretest -C
PCRE version 6.6 06-Feb-2006
Compiled with
  UTF-8 support
  No Unicode properties support
^^^^^^^^^^^

It's easy to tell a good version from bad one (but fixing requires rebuilding
PCRE RPM). Would it help, if I add an automatic PCRE test to the next release?
You could run it and see, if the library isn't Ok.
