i have had no problems with my rigid frame however i am still learning to ride it and have not been able to really test it. Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. On asphalt no problem. 4 bars pressure in the tires (continental sport contact). Bumpy roads and holes in the streets are problematic, especially for my head and neck! No much kilometres in 2010, hope it will be more on 2011..... Serge from EastBelgium. I have used 20x30mm tubing (on it's flat side up) to the rear and it's being on the limit, I'm 71kg and the tubing has now some arc, mostly because I have been riding about 200 km with a wooden block in a place where should be a rubber block. I'm having a 1.9" tire in front and liking it, have thought also some front suspension because it's more effective that way. But on the other hand, simplifying the building process is very important to the first-time builders. And here in Finland, most of Pythons are rigid, no issues on the pavement. Pekka 2011/2/23 <r.mccrady@xxxxxxxxxxx> I only ride on asphalt so the ride is fairly smooth. When I go from the road into my driveway there is a bump. When I hit the bump the frame flexes quite a bit. It scared me at first. I think steel frames flex but on the python I'm much more aware of it because I'm close to the ground and I don't take up some of the bump with my bent knees. I find the ride to be OK without the suspension. -Rod McCrady Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jürgen Mages" <jmages@xxxxxx> To: python@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2011 3:21:20 AM Subject: [python] Rear Suspension Hello Rod, it is not a bad idea to leave out the rear suspension. Considering the mount of effort, weight and the possibility of failure it seems not really worth to include a rear suspension. So, I am thinking of revising my building side: http://www.python-lowracer.de/construction.html The goal is, to simplify the building process and to save weight. As I never rode unsuspended Pythons, I am curious to hear some experiences from you and other riders. Any cracks of the rear frame yet? Cheers, Jürgen.
