Hi Mark,
I used the solution to adjust the chain tension with the position of the Wheel in the dropout.
I include a close up picture of the dropout:

I hope it helps.

Hi Gerald

Thanks for that. It is good to know that it can be done. Have you gone for an
eccentric bottom bracket, or haven't you found chain tension to be an issue?

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark,
I use a SRAM 9-Speed hup in my python and it seems all right. It even has a coaster break
- nice thing, you do not have to put your hand to the "handlebar" to break.
I think it is not a big issue with the weight of the hub while you ride the
python. Your legs left and right of the hup will weight a lot more than the hub.
As far as I know, the iMotion9 I use is even heavier than the Rohloff - albeit
not as noble.
If the hub has a reasonable price, I would sugget to go ahead and get it.

Best regards
Gerald

The only point I would

Hi Everyone

A friend of mine has a Rohloff speed hub that I am thinking of buying for my python project. If I include an eccentric bottom bracket, it shouldn't need any other chain tensioning device, and may even work with a chain case. This should make for a very tidy drive train.

Other than the silly price tag that this would come with, can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work? In particular, although I am prepared for the inevitable bruising that learning to ride will bring, do you think that having such a heavy hub will increase wheel flop and so make the learning process even harder? If so, would you advise, say, adjusting the steering head angle and if so to what?

Thanks in anticipation.

Mark
