Some QA here should be in the FAQ:
- What is HYPO
- Plain hyp fixers - Rapid fixers
- How to dissolve hypo
- pH of solutions
- Life of selenium toner

I use a mild stop bath made of acetic acid to neutralize the
alkaline developer, and use rapid fixer afterwards.
Used plain hypo fixers long time ago, but prefer the rapid
fixers now (they come in liquid concentrates)
