Now for the first time I am trying to fold it back up and running into
problems. Feels like there must some sort of stop its hitting, but I sure
don't see it.
The three likely problems that prevent folding the door into its closed
position:
1) The two tracks are not in their normal, ‘zeroed’ position. Look carefully at
the bed or track. There are flat springs that you press down to allow the top
track to extend all the way out (or farther back, as well). There are two of
these spring-locks for managing the position of the top track. If the top track
has not clicked into its ‘neutral’ or normal position, the camera won’t close.
The top and bottom tracks should perfectly align front-to-back (neither
extending beyond the other).
2) There is no cam mounted. In later models of the Technika they redesigned
the mechanism so you could close the front even without a cam being in place.
I don’t know when this appeared, but yours may be the earlier design.
3) You have raised the front. It has to be pretty close to the zeroed position
for the bellows to compress enough to close the camera.
