Subject: [pure-silver] Web Site for Corrected Pyro Formulas and Some
Toner Formulas

Edward Zimmerman has been kind enough to post both the Pyro
formulas lists and some toning formulas on his web site. The
corrected version of the list of Kodak pyro formulas is
there. He has also posted a PDF of patent for Nelson's Gold
Toner, which has the most complete instructions for mixing
and using it and my note on making a toner similar to Kodak
Poly Toner or the old version of Viradon by combining Kodak
Brown toner and Kodak Selenium Toner. I've tried the first
formula, the one using sodium carbonate, and find it works
fine. One correspondent wrote saying that he had staining
problems when it was mixed with current KRST but I was not
able to duplicate the problem using fresh KRST and fresh
KBT. This toner gives a somewhat different color to either
of its constituents.
Nelson's is suitable for partial toning because it does
not split tone. The final fixing step is important.
Evidently the images are not permanent unless it is done.
Thanks again to Edward. Having this material readily
available from a web site is a great convenience to those
who wish to have it and, of course, to me since I don't have
to send out individual e-mails.
