I use a piece of polished granite counter-top material. It was a piece of
scrap at the shop where they cut and edge granite and marble for counters.
Mine's for 20x24 prints, so I mounted a couple of large handles on it so
that it's easier to pick up.
You would not need anything nearly that big, but it should extend an inch
or two beyond the edge of your prints.
It's about an inch thick.
