Now that you say that, and seriously too, a piece or two of fairly
thick glass heated up in a oven (using common sense) should do the
trick.
The glass will keep hot for a while once out of oven, enough to
flatten fiber. I was going to try this method when a kind member
found me, and went through the PITA of shipping it, a dry mount
press which certainly makes life a lot easier.
