Subject: [pure-silver] On stand developing of Ilford PanF
Hi,
Recent discussions on stand developing inspired me to give
some 35mm out-dated PanF a try. Got some interesting results
as well a couple of failures. Rather than a lenghty
discussion I put a little quick page on a few of my results
together at:

Best,
Cor
I can't be sure about the effect seen on the radio
station picture but its like a directional effect caused by
reaction products sinking along the surface. Stand
development really should be done with the film horrizontal.
That should result in symmetrical effects. There is always
the chance of uneven development of large dense areas with a
lightening of the center parts due to build up of reaction
products there (there is name for this but I've forgotten
it). While stand development has been espoused by some well
known photographers (William Mortensen for instance), and
while some photographers seem to get good results with it,
nonetheless it is generally considered bad practice.
