I got my mats from a machinery supply house - I
haven't noticed them smelling in there - but then my
wife put an air freshener in the darkroom :)
FWIW - this is what I have:

They have other sizes as well. Easy to clean, easy on
the feet. These sit on top of an epoxy painted
concrete floor.
