Hi Frank.
In the formal announcement Plextor announced that do to some environmental issues proclaimed by an outfit from Europe called ROSE, i believe stating that there was too much lead in PTR1, it was announced that PTR2 would come out soon. I don't intend to chew or drink my PTR1 so i will stick with it for a time. I was hoping that Plextor would make a device allowing us to read DVDs. I understand that IRTI will support the PTR1 and that we can still get upgrades.

I talked to IRTI yesterday and Plextor has just sent them a demo version
of the new unit so hopefully we will be getting some concrete tech
information on it soon. I understand it is larger and has some
additional stereo capability but less editing functions. Does anyone
know more? (I must have missed the previous formal announcement)

Linda,

If IRTI don't know about the planned changes, they can't have been
monitoring this list or reading the Plextalk website.

Masahiro Shigeoka from Plextor sent a very clear message at the
beginning of September to this list which outlined the forthcoming
changes.

Perhaps the message just wasn't passed round by IRTI staff?

Cheers,

Jamie

I called IRTI the other day they hadn't heard of any such think. They
said
that they didn't even know that Plextalk was coming out with a new one.

Subject: clarification about ptr1 status

Hi all,

I'd like to make sure that I'm right about some information before I
disseminate it to my clients. Is the Plextalk being discontinued? If
so,
how long will there be any kind of support after the discontinuation?
If
the machine isn't being discontinued, is there something else
happening?
Somebody please help me strraighten this out.

Thanks,
Scott
