Agreed that it should only be the DoV (assuming - haven't checked -
that we can't reach here with Helshezag, not just that we chose not to
use it).

Also, we should probably move the existing footnote marker to after
the period. Currently, it looks like you should turn to Section 2405!

What about Sommerswerd et al.? Why single out the Jewelled Mace?

Agreed that we should footnote here. I think most readers would rather
have the +7CS or +12CS than the surprise. :)

Why not other magical weapons? I think the Sommerswerd gets a lot of
play because it is more than a simple enchanted weapon and it's not an
evil weapon either. It's hard to justify the Jewelled Mace here, even
for a footnote, without mentioning other magical weapons too.

It should probably be recorded as a Special Item, but despite its
"unnatural" weight, should an item be discarded? I tend to think so.

I'd feel OK with a footnote suggesting a bonus for skill with the Quarterstaff.
