Looks like I'm back using PDF995 to create PDF files from the few Word DOCs that I'm still using. Right now recreating the file in OpenOffice is impossible because it keeps crashing when I try to manipulate certain graphics within the file.
I don't remember. Have you tried PDFCreator:

I suppose the major problem there is that it doesn't preserve links. Thought I'd mention it anyway.
