Honestly, if you are wanting to do music composition then programming
is very likely to be the wrong direction to attack the problem from.
Programming would require that you learn an absolutely huge amount of
material that has nothing to do with your desired music work, where
use of an existing program would only require that you find one that
is accessible enough (from what I have read this may be difficult) and
then learn how to use it.
