I've been watching this, but I have the new, improved Word Pad so I had nothing to say. I did notice this, in my version. Ctrl-1 or 2 has no effect, but Select, Paragraph, Spacing gives me line spacing, which had no apparent affect, until I noticed the option to insert a "10 pt space after each paragraph". Removing that gave me single spacing. I wonder if you have a hard return after each paragraph? Ctrl 1 and 2 should work.
