I tried that.  I just held the 'X' key down constantly until 3 lines 
were filled (I let them wrap automatically).  They were...........double 
spaced!   And nothing I could do would change that.

Created a file by pressing <X> until 3 lines were filled and
saved in RTF (default setting).  <Ctrl+1>, <Ctrl+2>, and
<Ctrl+5> worked without having to do a <Ctrl+A>.
