I'm sure you know this Peter, but I'll say it anyway; cable is good as long as no one else has it in the area. As soon as word gets out that someone has cable or it's available in your area, everyone wants it and then your speeds start to suffer. I loved cable when I first got it, then I had to get rid of it and go to DSL because I was only getting cable-like speeds about 2 hrs out of 22 hrs a day. They all have their drawbacks--cable is shared bandwidth so the more in the area the slower it is, but it has no length limit to speak of; DSL has limits as to how far you can be from a DSLAM or main service center but it isn't shared like cable and won't slow down; satellite is sensitive to atmospheric and astronomical situations. Of course dial-up is torture.......at least after you've experienced broadband it is. ;-) -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://www.OrpheusComputing.com http://www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Kaulback" Vern, could you let us know how this all works out after Cox sends someone out? I have some relatives looking to spend the winters where you are and would like for them to be able to have internet service the way they should have. BTW, have you had a chance to try the java based tests on your connection http://www.broadbandreports.com/speedtest?java=1?
