For those of you who might be interested in this relatively new category of computers, I've recently acquired a Dell Mini-9 running Ubuntu, and I find it quite handy. It has an 8.9" screen, about a 4 hour battery life, 512 B RAM and weighs a little over 2 pounds. I twas given to me, but the cost at the time was $200.00. I'm a desktop guy, but I've found this to be very useful for quick email chores, light surfing, and info lookups. It boots very quickly and has a convenience factor I really like. The drawback is a small, 6GB Solid State Hard Drive, but I've supplemented that with a 16 GB Flash drive. In one article the reviewer said he thought netbooks would serve as the primary computer for half the people he knew, and I tend to agree. ========================= The list's FAQ's can be seen by sending an email to PCWorks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with FAQ in the subject line.
