Yup.. I heard the same about the last part. soon the home computers won't be
able to handle antiviral..too much to deal with.
Can't tell you what about your Norton..I notice mine will do auto updates at
night..for some reason it has trouble if I try to go in after the update
thru live update..but if liveupdate works on it's own then it
does...gremlins I guess. Or I can go check and see if the files are current
and if not then manually download and update.

> I wish I knew the answer to that one too!! one day it worked, and one day
it didn't. I spent hours on the phone with my ISP and finally the guy came
back and said that while he was off the day before, that a notice came thru
that the last (at that point in time) update to norton had done something
and the only way to get mail in is to turn those settings off. I've tried
turning them on since, and mail won't come in. Symantec's web site claims
it's a server problem - and my server claims it isn't their problem - they
have all the latest up -to-date wires and routers and what have you's -
Enough people not using my server can use the function, so my vote is that
it is my server (cable company) - but that's all the further I get - they
don't seem to be willing to look into fixing anything or changing anything
on their end. Norton still claims mail is scanned even with those functions
turned off - so I wasn't concerned. But this program had that option, so I
checked it.
> Interesting - I read an article today in the newspaper - who knows when
the paper is from tho, since I'm reading the back newspapers playing catch
up - that pretty soon, home computers will not be able to protect themselves
from viruses. The size of the programs and dat files and downloads needed
will exceed the capabilities of home systems. That server's will have to
maintain the anti-virus programs. Plus, the way viruses are 'morphing' there
may not be the capabilities for home computer's to run programs to catch the
way viruses will attack systems.
