Sandi -- I have used AVG for years. Many of the admins in this forum and others
such as CHAD, MCH etc and of course the admins in PC Tech in PalTalk all refer
folks to AVG. Others to consider which are also freeware are Anti Vir and Avast.

Now seems to be working properly. After all of my researching of AVG, Avast,
and Trendmicro I will probably wait until next year to make a change. Thanks
to all of you who responded, made recommendations, and generally helped me
through this.
I might add that I found two people locally who are using AVG free edition and
like it. One was my son who said he really had no clue about it but assumed it
was free and thinks it was put on by the last person who worked on their
computer!
AVG had sent a long list of things that the free version would not do and one
was tech support. The friend who has AVG says they have never needed any
support but have a son who is their "go to" person when they need help.
Since I am the "go to" person in this family (and isn't that a scary
thought!!!) that was not much help to me. However, the reason I get asked
questions is because I have you guys. And thank you very much for that support
you have given to me and my family over the years.
