Well, I see a few possibilities for possible fixes, but IMO you're probably better off doing a Restore Point if there is one from just before the problem started and you did not make a lot of system changes like installing programs and such. The biggest problem I have with just trying to fix the problem is that if that got messed up (probably something to do with registry), then what if there are other problems that you didn't notice yet? If its just the file associations, you can go to http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windo ws-Vista.html (http://tinyurl.com/2xsewp if that link does not work), and download and install the .html and .htm fixes. -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jan Robey Sent: Monday, October 27, 2008 1:55 PM To: _PCTechTalk Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Computer suddenly cannot open any links. Greetings to all you helpful people, This is a Dell laptop less than 1 year & it's OS is Vista, which uses Windows Mail. My computer has suddenly stopped being able to open any links or short cuts to links. I went to bed with the computer performing well & woke up with it acting as if it were a stroke victim. All I get is Application not available. It won't open my desktop short cuts to online links, it will not open links within emails, nor will it open links within a web page. I goggled this situation & it addressed a possibility of JavaScript needing to be redownloaded...which I did. The download went in without any difficulties but it changed nothing. I still cannot open any links. You help would be greatly appreciated.
