Actually, most times system restore doesn't work, you just boot up in safe
mode (hit F8 at beginning of boot) and run system restore from there. It
almost always works from safe mode.

Hi G,
I tried system restore twice, the last being the earliest date available, &
it failed to restore both times. Then I tried to click on the link below &
was quickly reminded that clicking on the link doesn't work. Not being able

to get the link to open means I cannot download the fix.

Hope you have another alternative.
Jan

Hi Jan,
Disastar replied to your original post, but perhaps it was lost in
transit to you. I've repasted it below.

Well, I see a few possibilities for possible fixes, but IMO you're probably
better off doing a Restore Point if there is one from just before the
problem started and you did not make a lot of system changes like installing
programs and such. The biggest problem I have with just trying to fix the
problem is that if that got messed up (probably something to do with
registry), then what if there are other problems that you didn't notice yet?

If its just the file associations, you can go to
http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windo
ws-Vista.html (http://tinyurl.com/2xsewp if that link does not work), and
download and install the .html and .htm fixes.

Peace,
Gman
