Sorry, ST for this delayed response. It sure seems like something is not quite right. I was womndering if there wqas a problem with WinMe that was causing my inability to boot from my E drive. I have just installed another CDRW drive(F), and willsee if it improves anything. Then I'll try a WinMe reinstall. I'll let you know. Thanks a lot.
