I use it as a standalone AV. For one thing, that allows me to occasionally test different types of security apps without having to uninstall a full suite in order to install it. But besides that, I prefer to run the best specialized apps that give me the fine tuning control I need with all I do on here. A suite might have the best firewall, but the AV might not be controllable enough and want to delete some of the more intrusive networking tools that I use. Some of these more advanced networking tools are immediately flagged as malware by most AV apps simply because they would be dangerous in the wrong hands. A perfect example would be something like an advanced password sniffer. Well, my hands aren't wrong, but most consumer friendly AV apps just don't seem to care about that. lol I can't stress enough how much I appreciate the fact that it gives very few false positives. Nearly ALL other AV apps I've tried flag much more false positives than actual malware and it's only been getting worse. That's been driving me up a wall for close to two years. The best part is that NOD32 actually asks me if I want to have it remove the things it finds and that allows me the opportunity to research those items and come to my own conclusions about their 'intent'. I also have the chance to tell it to leave my valuable networking tools alone. :) Peace, Gman "The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask" ----- Original Message ----- From: "Disastar" <disastar@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, February 01, 2009 2:03 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Antivirus > Ahh, I also use NOD32 Antivirus only.
