Looks like the Trojans / Viruses may have been replicating themselves. Frankly at this point I still do not know the difference. I ran ASQUARED and it took care of 6 of them. Then I ran AVG again and it found 26 more. The comments indicated it healed some and had to remove others. Running SpyBot also got rid of a ton of AD stuff. Ran out of time for further digging. I will now save all the rest of the information you sent Scott and will have to see if this is the end of the story or if I need to use it too. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott McNay" <Wizard@xxxxxxxx> Saturday, June 26, 2004, 9:18:11 PM, you wrote: CH> Now, my daughter's computer running Windows XP and Norton Anti Virus CH> that has never been updated had 33 of these types of Virus. A trojan is not a virus, and vice versa. Most antivirus programs take only passing notice of trojans.........Since you don't know what other kinds of junk is on her system, you should attack with other programs as well. Start with AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy (BOTH of them, not just one): -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at //www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
