Yes, there is something illogical about the directory level you have to 
choose in OE when importing OE. Try taking a lower or higher folder. 
Even easier is importing the messages into Thunderbird and then 
exporting them to OE -- or just sticking to TB.

If you let your friend try out TB for a few days, he probably won't want 
to ever again be without its safety and spam filter (-:
