That would be nice. It’ll be a pretty big job to pull them out of there. My
take of Rick’s email was that there is a specific blackberry patch to move them
to. I like your version better.
Either way is better than having to haul them off the property.

I believe we can leave the down trees in the blackberries if I read Rick’s

It really wasn’t that bad today. They were a bit thinner than when I started

I decided to do a little more cutting at the field today. I think we are
about half way through the grove now. It’s looking like we may have to
take out a pretty large portion of the fence out to get the trees out of
there. it appears the bulk of the grove is on the east side of the fence.
Also do we have any hornet killer on hand? There’s a wasp nest hanging in
a tree where I stopped today. pretty much the reason I stopped. about the
size of a basket ball.
Have a great weekend!

Jake, we just missed each other, I left at 9:09.
I was going to put a blade on my trimmer to cut out the blackberries but
the parts guy at Kitsap Tractor said it wouldn’t work too well. If the
blackberries were new and small size the blade could work but on
established vines it doesn’t a good job. Also, my trimmer has a
flexible drive shaft. The parts guy said that the blade on established
blackberries would cause too much torque and could damage the flexible
drive shaft. He said I would need a high end commercial grade trimmer
with a solid drive shaft.

I got to the field about 9:12......again, nobody there😀. A few showers
and a bit of wind so I declined to fly.
I did donate and drop off the Stihl chainsaw in the storage container
for anybody to check out to determine if it operates OK. It is about 15
years old but virtually new and may need a little TLC in the carb
department in case of any possible old gas varnish.
I met Joe Young coming in as I was leaving and he also left his chainsaw
for future tree cutting.
He has surveyed the alder patch and feels the biggest problem is the
blackberry vines...so thick you can’t work on the trees. A problem to
solve......even if you cut the base of the vines the balled up vines are
intertwined among the alders so tight you can’t drag them out of the
way....at least not by hand.....might require some kind of machinery.
