I ran into this and posted this as a suggestion for improvement back to =
Oracle to fix it. I consider it a bug not to be able to alter it back =
to the original. I used this on clone databases before I learned how to =
change the dbname and dbid using NID. Although I wouldn't recommend it =
because I have no idea what else might be affected you can simply update =
the table global_names back to the original.=20

I am trying to switch to GLOBAL_NAMES=3DTRUE. If I have two databases =

change the GLOBAL_NAME back to just plain sid? It seems that the ALTER
DATABASE RENAME GLOBAL_NAME command always helpfully slaps the domain on =

sid. In theory since I'm not changing GLOBAL_NAMES=3DTRUE on database B,
nothing should be affected (like its existing links). But it bothers me =
to
make an irrevocable change.
