The reference manual mentions ACTIVATION# like this: ACTIVATION# NUMBER Number assigned to the database instantiation That means that Oracle has foreseen hackers like me that would try fixing the database ID outside of the RMAN context and would actually dig through the DBMS_BACKUP_RESTORE package in order to do so. I am impressed. Mr. Sharman, please relay my compliments to Mr. Ellison the next time you two will be playing golf together. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
